Helping to buffer extreme weather events

Extreme weather events have caused significant damages to power systems, leaving millions of customers without electricity. Expecting that the frequency and intensity of these events will increase within the next years due to climate change, CROSSBOW proposes a power system resilience enhancement software, as part of the Regional Operation Centre Balancing Cockpit (ROC-BC) product, which forms a necessary and essential tool for the operators of the Regional Operation Centers.

The first simulations of this tool in the network model of the South-Eastern Europe (SEE) region, have shown that this enhancement can be achieved by properly scheduling the cross-border power exchanges, revealing the vital role of Regional Operation Center in the coordination of TSOs.
