D9.2  DSM suitability for improving cross border issues with increased penetration of RES

This report analyses the extent to which wide-scale (national and trans-national) demand side management (DSM) can contribute to improving cross border power transfers and associated issues in a transmission system with increased penetration of renewable energy sources (RES). It further develops a preliminary plan for the demonstration activities to be performed, in a simulated or real environment, in the local transmission system operators’ (TSOs’) networks. The main participants of the DSM Integration Platform (DSM-IP) are defined, as well as their interactions. Finally, an overview is made of the technical and regulatory requirements and obstacles which are critical for the coordination between the TSO and the DSM providers, and between the TSO and the distribution system operator (DSO).
