D9.1 Practical approaches to DSM for wide scale roll out

This document introduces worldwide and regional (South-East European) practices in wide-scale demand side management (DSM ) as one of the flexibility sources for the support of transmission network operation. It provides a critical analysis of the currently used ICT and other technologies enabling transmission network-level DSM, and describes possible applications of DSM. The document presents an overview of the state of the art DSM practices among the regional TSOs participating in CROSSBOW, as an important insight into network services and electricity market implications that wide-scale DSM may bring to interconnected TSOs with increased share of renewable energy sources.
