CROSSBOW joined the 14th EU Sustainable Energy Week
CROSSBOW project participated at the Policy Conference of the 14th EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) in Brussels from 18-20 June, organised by the European Commission, the Europe’s largest event dedicated to sustainable energy policy under the theme ‘Shaping Europe’s Energy Future’.
With over 90 sessions and 4,000 participants, 380 speakers and 100+ unique networking opportunities, EUSEW brought together public authorities, private companies, NGOs and consumers to promote initiatives to save energy and move towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient power.
CROSSBOW has participated in two different activities as part of the Policy: “Data Access Platforms to facilitate data driven services” session on 19 June and Energy Fair at the Networking Village on 20 June.
On 20th June, CROSSBOW’s project coordinator – Manuel Serrano- participated in the session “Data Access Platforms to facilitate data driven services” to explain how the information that is been gathered within the project by the active users can actually serve to have better forecasting on the production at the distribution.
Abundance of “data represents a great opportunity”, as organisers explained, on both the supply side, by monitoring and optimising its assets and reducing operational costs, as for the demand side by reducing energy bills for citizens and enterprises, through energy efficiency measures and the participation in mechanisms of flexible demand, but to engage consumers in this process. The first step is to provide consumers with access to their own energy usage data.
Serrano pointed out that final objective is not data per se but providing better services related with clean energy.
Next day, CROSSBOW participated in the Energy Fair at the Networking Village, where visitors could find out the achievements reached during the first period, as well as, created synergies, participated in a special quiz and even get the latest newsletter of the project.
